Launch of findings: Online roundtables

Thursday 3 September, 13:15 - 14:00

Thursday 10 September, 13:15 - 14:00

The Art of Headship is our long-standing, ongoing exploration of how the role of Head is practised in UK independent schools. Findings from our latest research phase, '20% More - The Art of Headship 2026', will be published in the Autumn.

We are delighted to invite you to attend one of our online roundtables in September to launch the findings of our work on Headship. During the Summer Term 2026, we undertook 56 structured interviews with current Heads to understand how their role is changing. The trends revealed are striking, and important.

This first series of webinars is designed to preview the findings to the heads who participated and to selected UK Heads whose relationship with RS Academics is strong.

The sessions are free of charge and are designed for both newly appointed heads who are shaping their leadership and experienced heads with insights to share.

These sessions will be led by Richard Backhouse, with collaborators Martin Collier and Andrew Nott. They bring powerful combination of headship experience, governance expertise and deep insight into leadership across the independent sector.

Please opt for one of the following dates:

Thursday 27 August, 13:15 - 14:00

Thursday 3 September, 13:15 - 14:00

Thursday 10 September, 13:15 - 14:00

We are keeping numbers deliberately small to enable meaningful discussion and ensure that everyone can contribute.
